چکیده

The environmentally important and toxic arsenate anion (HAsO4(2-)) is trapped in the cavity of a dimeric capsular assembly formed by a tripodal urea receptor. The selective binding of HAsO4(2-) over other anions is observed in a semi-aqueous solvent using a (1)H NMR titration study.

Selective recognition of sulfate ions by tripodal cyclic peptides functionalised with (thio)urea binding sites.

A tripodal urea and tripodal thiourea with the same cyclic peptide core have been synthesised and their anion binding ability investigated. In CDCl(3), the tripodal urea self-associates whereas the thiourea does not. Neither compound shows self-association in the more polar 10% v/v DMSO-d(6)/CDCl(3). Both compounds bind strongly and selectively to sulfate ions in CDCl(3) and 10% v/v DMSO-d(6)/C...

Selective and tuneable recognition of anions using C3v-symmetrical tripodal urea-amide receptor platformsw

The design and synthesis of receptors for the selective recognition and sensing of anions, through the use of weak interactions such as hydrogen bonding, is an active area of research within supramolecular chemistry. Structures based on urea and thiourea recognition sites are of particular interest due to their strong, and tuneable hydrogen binding abilities, and their relatively easy syntheses...

Selective and tuneable recognition of anions using C(3v)-symmetrical tripodal urea-amide receptor platforms.

The synthesis and binding investigations of first generation C(3v)-symmetrical hydrogen bonding urea-amide based tripodal receptors, 1-6, with various anions such as acetate, phosphate, sulfate and chloride in DMSO-d(6) are presented. Analysis of the (1)H NMR titrations of 1-6 showed on all occasions the selective formation of 1 : 1 stoichiometries.

Kinetic studies on bioadsorption of arsenate from aqueous solutions using chitosan

Arsenic, one of the most toxic and dangerous elements in the environment affecting millions of people around the world, is associated with several diseases. In this pilot study, we investigated removal of arsenate from aqueous solutions using chitosan under the influences of initial arsenic ion concentrations, pH, contact time, and adsorbent dosages of chitosan. In order to assess the sorption ...

Tripodal tris-tacn and tris-dpa platforms for assembling phosphate-templated trimetallic centers.

Multidentate tripodal ligands, N(CH2-m-C6H4-CH2tacn)3 (L1) and N(CH2-o-C6H4-CH2N(CH2py)2)3 (L2), have been devised for assembling high-nuclearity metal clusters. By using the same tripodal platform with different ligand appendages, either triazacyclononanes or dipicolylamines, and functionalizing either the ortho or the meta positions on the tris(xylyl) linker arms, discrete trimetal phosphate ...
